Process for Dividing Baseball/Softball Teams:
In order to preserve the youth sports program and to make the team selection fair for all participants, the Youth Committee has developed the following procedure for team selection:
The YMCA Sports Director will divide the teams in the T-Ball age group. This will be done as equally as possible according to age and ability, not by requests.
In all other age groups, teams will be selected by a draft involving the coaches.
* Teams will be drafted as soon as possible after the clinics.
* Pre-season team practices will be held until the regular season games begin.
* Games will begin the middle of April and the season will last until the end of June.
* An outdoor cookout banquet will be held at the end of the June.
* All participants will receive certificates of participation.
Trophies will be given out to individuals on the first place regular season team (exception-no trophies in T-Ball). The first place regular season team will not play in the play-offs which are held after the season. Trophies will be given out to the winners of the play-offs. There will be no superlatives given out such as Most Valuable or Most Improved.
All-Star teams will be chosen for the Dixie Youth League by the following method:
A coach for the team will be secured by the end of the season. The coach and Sports Director will make selection of the team with no regard to certain number per team, etc.
