Membership and Policies

AWAY Program

The Eden YMCA is a member of the National A.W.A.Y. Program (Always Welcome At the Y) whereby your membership is reciprocal on a visiting basis all over the United States. The A.W.A.Y. program is based on the philosophy that when a person enrolls in a YMCA, he or she becomes a member of a nationwide association of people that helps build strong kids, strong families and strong communitities, and, therefore, when away from home, on business or vacation, will be warmly welcomed by all other participating YMCAs in the U.S. A YMCA's participation in this program is voluntary. Some restrictions may apply.

Because each local YMCA sets its own policies, each participating YMCA in the A.W.A.Y. program develops its own local restrictions. Many participating YMCAs have no restrictions on visiting Y members. Restrictions may include "visits by members of YMCAs within 50 miles are limited to three per month," "visiting members may only use the facility at certain hours," "visiting members will be charged half the guest fee," or "visiting Y members are restricted to a limited number of visits each year."

If you are planning to visit another YMCA, please call that YMCA for its visitor policies before you go. To find information on any YMCA in the U.S., go to www.ymca.net, and conduct a "Find Your YMCA" search. YMCAs participating in the A.W.A.Y. program are noted.

If you are a member of the Eden YMCA and would like to become a part of the A.W.A.Y. program, see a member services desk representative.

Computer Entrance System

Your fingerprint or ID number is your access passport to YMCA activities.

Youth Member Entrance Policy

In order to enter the YMCA facilities or grounds, youth members must be enrolled in a supervised program, or enter with their parents, or participate in a YMCA activity such as youth swim, open gym, etc. Parents of children not participating in any activity will be asked to come to the YMCA and participate with their child or enroll their child in a supervised program. The YMCA cannot accept the responsibility of babysitting a child who is “dropped off”. If a youth member, not enrolled in a supervised program, is injured or harmed in any way, the YMCA will not assume any medical, financial or any other form of liability. Any member, youth or adult, who cannot abide by the established rules may have their privileges suspended or revoked. Approved by the Eden Family YMCA Board of Directors.

Gift Certificates

If you are looking for the perfect gift, why not give a membership to the YMCA? For more information, ask the office staff about the gift certificate.

Program Procedures

Unless nonmember fees are listed with a particular program, all programs are for members only.

Equipment Checkout Policy

Members may check out equipment and towels at the front desk. Due to the number of towels available, youth members MAY NOT check out towels for swimming purposes.

Non-Smoking Policy

In recognition of the health and fitness emphasis of the YMCA, the use of tobacco products is not allowed on YMCA property.

Physical Examination

The YMCA advises that all new members have a physical examination before beginning participation in any active gym or pool class.

Locker Usage Policy

Lockers are available for rent or for daily use in each locker room. Check with the office personnel if you wish to rent a locker. Any lock left on daily use lockers after closing time will be removed by the YMCA.

Safeguard Your Valuables

YMCA is not responsible for personal belongings. Leaving items of value in unlocked lockers is not safe. The YMCA suggests leaving items of value at home. All lost and found items will be held at the front desk for one week after which they will be donated to charity.

Scholarship Aid

YMCA programs and services are designed to benefit persons of all backgrounds. The YMCA uses contributed funds to ensure that those who are unable to pay the stated fees are able to participate. Inquiries about this policy are welcome.

Please Help!!!
